Cargotec’s handling gains
Générale de Manutention Portuaire at the port of Le Havre in France has ordered 14 Kalmar Edrive straddle carriers from Cargotec.
The port handles more than 60% of France’s annual container traffic so the all-electric straddle carriers will come equipped with twin-lift spreaders capable of lifting loads of up to 50 tonnes.
Further, Cargotec is also refurbishing and upgrading the ship-to-shore cranes at Port Klang, as part of plans to boost efficiency and capacity at its Container Terminal Two.
Eight cranes, capable of 48m outreach, will be completely refurbished with digital electrical system technology. Upgrades will be made to the cranes’ PLCs, speed drives, control monitoring systems, motors, cables, brakes, festoon systems, operator cabins and load weighing systems. Alongside this, two further post-Panamax cranes will be raised in height to accommodate larger container ships.
