Lithuania seeks port investment
Lithuanias Transport Ministry has confirmed that it is seeking investors willing to participate in the construction of a new deep water port, which will be taken forward as a concession.
The new facility will have a draft of 17 m, compared to 14.5 m at the existing port of Klaipeda. A feasibility study is due for completion in spring 2012 with locations at Melnrage and Butinge under consideration. The project has already been presented to China’s Transport Ministry.
