Spains Vilagarcía box terminal sinking

Opened just three years ago at a cost of €20m ($29m), the container terminal at the north-western Spanish port of Vilagarcía is showing visible signs of sinking.

After losing the Contenemar business, Vilagarcia suffers another setback

The facility was built by a consortium of three Spanish construction companies and is currently being expanded at a cost of €4.7m by a fourth company.

The terminal was previously operated by the Contenemar shipping line, whose subsequent bankruptcy led to the terminal losing virtually all of its traffic.
