COSCO keen on Croatian terminal investment

Chairman Wei Jiafu has indicated that the global carrier could be interested in a concession to manage a terminal at the port.

Croatian officials have also confirmed that COSCO has expressed an interest in linking the port with the capital Zagreb via rail at an expected cost of €3bn.

Rijeka Port Authority recently signed an agreement to build a new container terminal in the port, which is scheduled for completion in 2017.

The trade links between the two countries are significant: last year, Croatia exported around €28m of goods to China and imported goods totalling around €1bn.
