AGCT employees join forces for progress

The planned major upgrade and refurbishment of the existing facilities at the Rijeka terminal in Croatia are part of an expansion project to provide higher levels of service. AGCT took over terminal operations following ICTSI’s successful bid for the port 15 months ago.

Justino Ramon L Tayag III, ICTSI, said to Port Strategy: “Infrastructure improvements include repairs in the container yard and roads, reconstruction of the rail yard and cleaning of the seabed in the southern pier. Utilities improvements include the installation of an autonomous fuel and power supply system. Apart from these, AGCT is preparing to further upgrade facilities with the planned reconstruction of the existing yard, construction of new gates and the installation of European Union border inspection posts.”

AGCT employees, represented by The Independent Union of Employees of Port of Rijeka, have signed a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) to build trust and secure the highest level of education, social development, safety and productivity for employees. This CBA is the first to be specifically tailored for container operations in the region. It also looks to improve productivity, reduce waste and set the grounds for future medium and long term developments in line with European Union and International Labour Organisation (ILO) guidelines.
