Cargotec makes operations adjustments

Plans have been made to restructure the role of the company’s global support functions and corporate functions towards a holding type company structure to allow for more independent businesses.

In order to adjust to the new operating model and to improve Cargotec’s profitability, the company will soon begin employee cooperation negotiations about potential reduction of work force with the entire personnel.

An initial estimate showed that the planned measures could result in the reduction of around 245 man-years globally. Finland will be hit hardest with approximately 130 reductions, 35 in Sweden and 80 in other countries where the plans will be locally negotiated.

The measures could also result in changes in work duties as well as transfers from duties to others in all personnel groups.

A representative from Cargotec told Port Strategy that the planned change is in the very early stages, detailed planning has begun and the operational model will be revealed later. No more information can be disclosed at this time.
