Largest Terex crane for Mexico
US based Terex Port Solutions has received an order from terminal operator, Operadora de la Cuenca del Pacifico (OCUPA), for its Gottwald model 8 mobile harbour crane in the G HMK 8410 variant – the largest of its type ever built.
The crane will be used to load an unload vessels with a capacity of up to 8,000 teu and nine high container stacks on deck at the Port of Manzanillo on the Pacific coast of Mexico.
Andreas Moeller, sales director, Terex Port Solutions, said: “The Terex Gottwald G HMK 8410 for OCUPA was designed with a special geometry required for handling containers on such large vessels, taking into consideration boom length, boom pivot point and viewing height for the crane operator.”
It has been based on OCUPA’s requirements and features a boom pivot point at a height of more than 34m and a viewing height of almost 38m. With efficient diesel electric drive technology, a 100 tonne hoist and a 10 axle chassis, OCUPA says the crane will enable it to meet customer demands.
