Lift equipment for Pelindo
An Indonesian port operator has signed an additional deal with Gaussin Manugistique to kit out its new port terminal with lift equipment complete with automatic navigation.
The original €8.3m order from PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero), known as Pelindo, was for 50 ATT-V4 and 50 diesel power packs for its new terminal in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The additional €4.9m order for the lift and docking station option with automatic navigation brings the value of the contract up to €13.2m.
Husain Latief, sales director, Pelindo, explained that the operator already uses Gaussin Manugistique ATT equipment at its new port terminal in Teluk Lamong Bay.
“I think this choice will enable us to make savings on our other investments. In this sense, our port terminal will undoubtedly represent the container terminals of the future”, he said.
ATT says that its lift equipment does away with the need for a straddle carrier. It can be used with a diesel power pack, but also with full electric, hydrogen or hybrid power packs.
The July 2013 Bureau Veritas report said that a saving of US$2.37m could be made per year by replacing straddle carriers with the ATT lift equipment with automatic navigation because it increases productivity.
Gaussin Manugistique says that this contract is helping to highlight its competence in the field of port vehicle automation.
The new equipment is due for delivery in December 2013.
