Kalmar RTGs for Indonesia
Kalmar is helping Indonesia’s PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) clean up its act with six new E-One2 RTGs to be delivered in mid 2014.
The RTGs will help to increase container capacity at the port and meet the latest environment demands, without compromising operational efficiency.
The E-One2 RTG has a reputation for high productivity with 1 over 5 high stacking and a maximum lift capacity of 40 tonnes. It’s powered by a Cummins QSX15-600 engine and Kalmar’s Variable Speed Generator (VSG) package.
The VSG allows the engine to run at a lower RPM level when idle and automatically optimise the engine’s RPM according to the power needed, resulting in lower fuel consumption and emissions. This means that it consumes 25% less fuel when compared with conventional diesel-hydraulic RTGs.
And it’s not just Indonesia where the cargo handling expert has been busy of late.
Kalmar has also just won a major order to supply TraPac’s fully automated terminal in Los Angeles, USA.
The order includes 17 automated stacking cranes and 11 automated straddle carriers. The terminal is expected to be partly open for commercial operations in the second quarter of 2014.
