Konecranes presents next generation lift trucks

The next generation series features an entirely new driver’s cabin with first-in-class features. The trucks also feature increased reach stacker lifting seed, an enhanced remote monitoring system and improved engine performance.

They are equipped with common platform engines which Konecranes says save up to 6% in fuel consumption over stage IIIB, while the service interval on the new engines has been doubled to 1,000 hours.

An industry ‘first’ seven inch touch screen colour display has been integrated to provide fuel truck monitoring including eco-drive, fuel management and driver login.

The trucks will also feature TRUCONNECT remote monitoring software, which monitors everything from fuel consumption and travelling, to utility work and safety critical events.

This new series spans the entire product range of lift trucks and will be gradually introduced to the market starting with regions where emissions regulations EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 Final are in force.

RTG orders
Elsewhere, the company has received two significant orders for its rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs).

The first order comes from Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), which recently secured US$80m for 20 RTGs and four ship-to-shore (STS) cranes to be used to handle containers at Garden City Terminal at the Port of Savannah.

All 20 cranes will have the capacity to convert to electric power as the GPA continues its effort to transition away from diesel fuel. They will be delivered by March 2016.

DP World’s Yarimca container terminal in Turkey has also ordered 18 RTGs, which will stack one-over-five containers high and seven plus truck lane wide. They will include a number of safety and productivity enhancing features including active load control, auto-steering, stack collision prevention, a truck guiding system and a truck trailer anti-lifting system.

Konecranes has previously delivered container handling equipment to DP World terminals in Algeria, Egypt, India and the UAE, but this order is the first all-electric RTG order for DP World.
