Orders flow in for Terex
Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has installed a second Terex Gottwald portal harbour crane in the terminal of Fospar SA Fertilizantes Fostfatados do Paraná in Paranagua, Brazil.
The order was placed to enable the operator to keep up with ever increasing handling rates.
The Model 4 G HSK 4316 B variant supports an identical crane delivered in 2012 and both are now working together to handle fertiliser replacing two obsolete cranes.
They are tailored to on-site conditions with a track gauge of 12m and a clearance of 7m under the crane portal, with a maximum lifting capacity of 33.8t, they also have two dedicated mechanical grabs for the fertiliser.
Meanwhile, Terex continues its success with reach stackers in Latin America. At Santos, the Brazilian terminal operator Cia. Bandeirantes Logistica Integrada now has an additional two Terex TFC 46Ms in operation.
José Eduardo Ornellas Priante, maintenance manager, Bandeirantes, said: “In our terminal in Santos, we have to make use of the space as efficiently as possible so we need compact and manoeuvrable machines which can stack containers as high as possible.”
He pointed out that with the new equipment from TPS, the operator has managed to increase its stock capacity by around 30%, while still fulfilling increasingly strict safety regulations.
With a wheel base of 6.5m, the reach stackers can stack up to six full high-cube containers in the first row and up to five in the second row.
