Faster turnaround times for trucks

US based Crux Systems says its new free trucking app allows truckers to better manage deliveries, gain visibility into routes and speed up processing, leading to increased efficiency and faster turnaround times at terminals.

Crux Systems’ app is already being used by trucks at the US ports of Houston and New York/New Jersey

The app, which is about to be launched to the market and is currently in beta-testing, allows trucking companies to receive information about potential booking and release issues in advance so they can be addressed before the driver arrives at the terminal gate.

It also aids in reducing congestion by the use of automated gate tickets, which help terminals to utilise in truck handling and improve routing to decrease drive times.

Eric Klein, CEO, Crux Systems told Port Strategy: “The aim behind the app is simple to alleviate truck congestion. Truck visibility has always been a bit of a black hole and lacking when it comes to what a truck driver is actually doing. This app also enables truck drivers to use one app wherever he is going making the whole process a lot simpler.”

The good news for truckers is that they can download and use the app irrespective of the fact of whether a terminal is operating a terminal operating system (TOS) or not. The terminal has to put in no additional marine infrastructure.

Truckers can then measure live status of deliveries, orders and location and the app is useable no matter which terminal they are operating in or where it is located.

Traditionally, truck drivers have had to contend with multiple different systems depending on which terminal they are operating at, making jobs much more complex than they need to be.

In July, Crux will also launch the marine terminal side of the product, which will enable operators to keep a track of truck flow as part of their overall terminal operating system.
