smart rivers ‘21 heads for Vienna
Following the three previous conferences in Pittsburgh, Brussels and Louisville, the 4th smart rivers ’21 conference, organised by the Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses in Austria (PIANC Austria) and Austria Tech will be hosted by the City of Vienna on 6-9 September 2009 at the Vienna City Hall.
This long awaited event, focusing this year on trends, policy, technology and science in relation to IWT represents a new milestone in the smart rivers ’21 development and enhancement of the use of and expertise on inland waterway transport. The event programme includes a wide range of presentations, technical site visits and exhibitions along with tourist attractions for the general public. Worldwide attendance of speakers, exhibitors and visitors is expected. Smart rivers ’21 supporting organisations include via donau, the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP), the Transport Infrastructure Needs Assessment (TINA Vienna), PIANC International, the Ohio River Authority and the Port of Pittsburgh and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
