Gottwald MHC for Southampton

With the award of this contract, Gottwald has extended its foothold in the UK to 75 Mobile Harbour Cranes. Doug Morrison, ABP Port Director, Southampton, said: “The Port of Southampton has grown considerably in recent years, requiring significant investment on ABP’s part. As part of our 25-year agreement with Huelin- Renouf, which provides shipping and freight-forwarding services to and from the Channel Islands, we invested £ 6 million in new facilities to support the business and this prompted our subsequent order of two new Mobile Harbour Cranes.” The two new cranes were recently commissioned and will be used for handling containers. According to Morrison, ABP’s excellent experience with Gottwald’s cranes and service had a strong influence on the decision to go with Gottwald. ABP, the UK’s largest and leading ports group with 21 ports, and Gottwald are connected by a strong partnership of many years. Gottwald’s cranes have not only been proven in the Port of Southampton, where the new order brings to four the size of the Gottwald crane fleet, with the new cranes, joining the existing G HMK 6407 B and HMK 170 EG.
