Racking up the RTG orders
Konecranes has been racking up the RTG orders with a double order for two Boxhunter RTGs for Vietnam’s Ben Nghe Port and 12 RTGs for the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA).
The two Boxhunter RTGs bound for Ben Nghe Port will be delivered in cooperation with Telin Technology & Infrastructure JSC in June 2017.
Ngo Ba Phong, manager of the investment & project division of Ben Nghe Port, said: “The two new Boxhunter RTGs will greatly improve our container handling capacity and efficiency. By adopting the latest technologies, such as Boxhunter, we can better respond to the requirements of the global shipping lines.”
These new Boxhunter RTGs will be electrically powered by the latest cable reel system and equipped with GPS based Auto-steering.
The 12 cranes destined for SCPA’s Wando Welch terminal in the Port of Charleston will be delivered in early autumn 2017 and will give SCPA a fleet of 53 Konecranes RTGs.
“This makes our fifth RTG order with Konecranes since 1998,” said Stevenson Kemp Jr, director, terminal operations. “We continue to return to Konecranes because their RTGs have proven to be best-in-class in quality of construction, operating characteristics and long-term serviceability.”
The RTGs on order will have a lifting capacity of 50 long tonnes and will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control, Auto-steering and Truck Lift prevention features.
They will also be equipped for Stack Collision Prevention, Auto-truck Guiding and Adjacent Bay Collision Prevention, which will be activated if the RTGs are converted to semi-automated use in future.
