New deadline for Europa Platform

The new deadline will give potential bidders more time to digest the enormous financial effort needed to construct Europa Platform, which is expected to cost €800m, with the private operators providing more than €300m.

The concession for the new 2m teu container terminal is for 60 years, and would require the winner to invest in a 1 km quay, container stacking yard, container handling equipment, buildings and workshops, internal roads, IT systems and connecting roads.

For this reason, interested bidders requested a two-month extension in order to further investigate the port’s financial data.

The previous deadline was scheduled for September 30.
