Investment for Viano do Castelo and Setúbal

At Setúbal, she noted that the government wants to improve access to the port for larger ships through a dredging programme which will start at the end of the year. Rail capacity will also be increased, allowing up to 15 trains a day to use the port, rather than the current nine.

At the northern port of Viana do Castelo, investment of €24.5m has been announced, aimed at growing traffic and helping operating companies, such as Enercon and WestSea.

Most of the investment will be spent on deepening the access channel and upgrading road access to the port. The new road will be 10 km long and link up with the A28 highway, allowing HGVs to be diverted away from the town centre.
