Algeciras bidding deadline further extended
Although relative stability has been restored in stevedoring operations at Spanish ports, the port authority at Algeciras Bay (APBA) has put back the bidding deadline for its third container terminal from June 30 to October 31. The new terminal will be part of the Phase B development of the Isla Verde Outer Harbour project.
APBA president, Manuel Morón, made the announcement, explaining that the delay was down to the uncertainty regarding the stevedoring situation and the sale of TTIA, the port’s second box terminal, following the collapse of Hanjin.
The new terminal can either be managed as a dedicated facility or a public terminal. On offer is a 50-year concession for an area of 30.5ha next to the main rail freight terminal. The quay is 680 metres long, with up to 130 metres of additional quay also available. Alongside draft is 18.5 metres.
