Yilport: Tertir skimped on tech investment
Yilport, part of the Turkish holding that acquired the assets of Portuguese terminal operator Tertir from Mota-Engil in September 2015, has accused the former owner of a lack of investment in technology.
The deficiency in technology, claims the company, is “proving to be a major challenge” for the operational teams. As a result, Navis’ terminal operating system is to be introduced at all its Spanish and Portuguese terminals.
At the same time, “particular attention is being given by management to improve safety, taking into account international standards”.
As a result of “strong impact of operational conflicts”, priority has been given to the port of Lisbon. However, new chief executive Christian Blauert stressed that the company “has to remain neutral on trade union issues so that the Leixões and other ports unions can be treated in the same way”.
