Don Boesch

Donald F. Boesch is President Emeritus and Professor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. He holds a B.S. in biology from Tulane University and Ph.D. in oceanography from the College of William and Mary. Dr. Boesch has conducted research on coastal and continental shelf ecosystems along the U.S. Atlantic Coast, and in the Gulf of Mexico, eastern Australia, and the East China Sea. He is a past-chairman of the Ocean Studies Board of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and was appointed by President Obama to the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Oil Spill and the Offshore Drilling. Dr. Boesch is a long-term advisor to the Maryland Port Administration on maritime environmental issues. He has also been engaged in assessing the impacts of global climate change, co-authoring several reports for the Maryland Climate Change Commission, the first and second National Climate Assessment, and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
