Tom Sprehe

Tom Sprehe is a Senior Vice President and Director of Innovation and Technology at KCI Technologies, Inc. (KCI). He has 35 years of experience in design, construction management, and operations of solid waste facilities, water and sewer systems, including conveyance and treatment facilities. Tom holds a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and AAEES Certification in both Solid Waste Management and Water and Wastewater Engineering. He is a registered PE in 10 states in the U.S.. He has served as manager of KCI’s Environmental Discipline, which includes water, wastewater, solid waste and geotechnical engineering; hazardous waste and environmental compliance; and industrial hygiene services. Specifically, he has worked on projects involving underground utilities including water conveyance systems and large diameter sewers, and has led negotiations with MDE and other state and local governmental agencies for permitting and other regulatory issues. His experience also includes managing operations and maintenance of over 130 water and wastewater facilities, and design of facility retrofits at over 30 plants ranging to 87.5 MGD. In a prior position, Tom served as the Director of the Maryland Environmental Service (MES) Water and Wastewater Program, Waste Management Program and the Environmental Dredging Program, where he was responsible for managing funding, design, regulatory compliance, and construction management. In the past years, his interest in marine debris and the intersection of solid waste management and water quality has led to several projects in debris interception and control strategies. More recently, as the Director of KCI’s Innovation and Technology program, he is responsible for development of KCI’s business in new and innovative technologies that have the potential to drive future growth of the firm.
