The Rail and Maritime Transport Union (RMTU) will not now strike before March 13 — albeit, its notice to strike from March 13-21 currently remains in place.

Lyttelton Port Company expressed disappointment its revised “generous offer” was not accepted.

It also noted late withdrawal of strike notices meant it was unlikely interim work would be available for all 201 RMTU staff, as shipping will already have diverted from the port.
