A new partnership between UK-based EarthSense and air quality, emission, and combustion monitoring system provider, Marec will see the latter become the Central America and Caribbean distributor of EarthSense’s Zephyr air quality monitors.

Real-time recording
Zephyr monitors record real-time ambient air pollutants including nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), hydrogen sulphide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and particulate matter PM1, PM2.5, and PM10, together with measurements for temperature, pressure and humidity.
Port and terminal operators can use Zephyr monitors to ensure air quality meets the Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports’ (INCOP) environmental compliance standards. Marec has deployed a sensor at Caldera Port in Costa Rica to monitor real-time emissions and has since used sensor data to monitor and ensure pollution levels are within safe guidelines.
Marec president, David von Boisman, said: “There is very little air quality data available in the region and now we can offer the Zephyr as an affordable way to collect data, to help authorities quantify the impact on the health of the population and start working on solutions.”
The monitors, which require little infrastructure to operate and are easy to install, come with access to MyAir for users to identify and analyse measurements.
