Duisburg multimodal terminal
Duisburg is to be the home of a new 35,000 sq m trimodal container terminal, part funded by South Africas Imperial Group. Due to open in spring 2009, the terminal will be part of a new transportation link between the Upper Rhine ports and Duisburg, handling cargo which is not currently forwarded through Duisburg.
It will be capable of handling 9m tonnes of cargo annually, although this will be extended to 15m tonnes depending on demand.
