Electric ECH nominated for awards

Sany Europe’s Sany SCDE90K7, first announced at TOC Europe 2019 and soon to be available, has been nominated in two Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) award categories – Environment and Innovation.

It is estimated energy consumption of the new electric empty container handler will be 15% that of the diesel equivalent and it will yield a 20% noise reduction, as well as a large reduction in maintenance costs, explained Sany.

The ECH uses Li-ion LiFePo4batteries with a capacity of 331.7kwh. Users can utilise one-hour or automatic fast charging options and the machine’s working time of 10 hours means it can achieve two shifts per day.

The SCDE90K7 is estimated to return its extra investment costs within the first year of operation, said Sany. This is due to just a small increase in cost compared to existing machines and the savings achieved through battery recharging.

It is estimated that the cost per container with the electric variant means it can handle over six containers per every one moved with the diesel equivalent.

At the 2019 FLTA awards, the Innovation Award was won by Sany for its H9 reachstacker, which was noted for its nitrogen-charged accumulators which store energy and act as auxiliary lifts.
