A groundbreaking project will position Lithuania’s Port of Klaipėda as the first in the Baltic region to produce green hydrogen on-site.
IMI will supply a PEM electrolyser for the hydrogen refuelling stations, which is pearheaded by EPC contractor MT Group.
“Electrolysers can provide huge benefits to the marine sector and help to meet the stringent targets set out by the EU as part of the European Green Deal,” said Mauro Natalini, sales & business development manager at IMI.
”We’ve been working closely with both MT Group and the Seaport Authority to accelerate the use of green hydrogen in the Baltic region.”
Slashed emissions
The IMI VIVO electrolyser will generate 500kg of green hydrogen daily, equivalent to 127 tonnes annually, using 3 MW of sustainable energy.
This on-site production reduces the need for hydrogen transport and storage, cutting associated emissions and contributing to the European Green Deal’s goal of a 90% reduction in transport emissions by 2050.
MT Group, a leader in energy infrastructure, is leveraging this project to set a new industry standard.
