FIVE BID FOR JNPT STUDY

First phase investment will require US$100m to develop roads, a 600 metre long quay, a reservoir, a bonded warehouse and upgraded power supply, allowing the facility to open by 2007.

Five companies have bid to undertake a technoeconomic feasibility study for the proposed US$687,600 expansion of JNPT. Expansion plans encompass a fourth container terminal and a chemicals terminal which will be built using private-sector funding on a BOT basis. The five companies are: Scott Wilson of the UK, France’s STUP, L&T Ramboll, Howe India and Consultancy Engineering Services.
