Brazil expands handling capacity
In Brazil, the national waterway transportation agency Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (ANTAQ) has authorised Chibatão Navegação e Comércio to expand operations by adding 400 m of quay at the Port of Manaus.
The private use terminal, which can handle any type of cargo other than liquid bulk or gas, will now have 1,110 m of quay.
The application depended on no objection being issued by the national petroleum, natural gas and biofuel agency Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis.
ANTAQ has also given permission for Itapoá Terminais Portuários to commence operations at a 40,000 sq m extension of its container stacking yard and at a further 170 m of quay at the Port of Itapoá, in the state of Santa Catarina.
