General Manager at Port of Klang and Past President of International Association of Ports and Harbors Captain K. Subramaniam joins the discussion on how ports and shipping can collaborate to achieve 2050 goals.

This keynote panel taking place on Wednesday 8th May 2024 will discuss what collaboration methods are available for ports and shipping lines. It is crucial that all port authorities, environmental managers, shipping lines and energy managers attend this session to have their say and pose questions. Shipping already has regulations to follow from the IMO but what do they need from Ports to achieve these goals?

Port Klang, located on the northeast coast of the Straits of Malacca, is the largest and busiest port in Malaysia and the second largest port in Southeast Asia. Strategically located, about 65% of Port Klang’s cargo is transshipment cargo, while about 35% of the cargo serves the local market.

Captain K. Subramaniam began his career in the Merchant Marine in 1981 obtaining his Captaincy in 1992. He joined Port Klang Authority in 1994 as a Harbour Pilot and held several designations before being appointed the General Manager in 2016 becoming the 1st scholar sponsored by PKA to head the organization.

He is the Past President of the International Association of Ports & Harbours (IAPH), is an Advisory Board Member of APEC Port Services Network and Secretary General of Eastern Dredging Association EADA.
