CAN-BUS tractor popular with ro-ro industry
Demand from ro-ro customers has boosted sales of Kalmars i-model tractor range.Since the launch of the product in spring this year,more than 50 units have been ordered by customers such as the Port of Gothenburg, Stena Line, Rauma Stevedoring and DFDS Tor Line.
The i-model is marked as the first ever series of tractors to use CAN-BUS control technology,a communication standard. Magnus Johnson, technical development at the Port of Göteborg AB, said: “The i-model’s Can-Bus system provides for easier troubleshooting and offers a simplified electrical system, which should mean less maintenance.
“The system also allows for speed and load limitation, as well as providing alarm and fault statistics and an indication of fuel consumption, all of which we hope will contribute to improved machine performance.”
