Close second for Vistascapes SitelQ
US-based security specialist Vistascape came within a hares whisker of picking up this years Seatrade Safety at Sea Award but was pipped at the post by Australias Mobilarm for its crew monitoring system. Nevertheless, as runner-up Vistacapes SiteIQ software programme was a worthy contender. SiteIQ provides security authorities with a single graphical display for monitoring and automating security based on analysis of data from multiple sensors in a maritime environment.
Traditional port surveillance relies on human guards to watch live video streams, detect potential security violations and then respond according to correct policy.
Research indicates however, that humans are largely ineffective at this task, tuning out after only 20 minutes of continuous monitoring.
SiteIQ, on the other hand, enables security officers to set up detection rules on a graphical map of their port or terminal. The software then automates detection and issues alerts to staff in the event of a policy violation. The system can detect, classify and track hundreds of objects simultaneously, at land or sea. The software enables detection rules to be set up based on real-world criteria such as object type, size, speed, and time of day.
