Container recognition in Europe
A new container recognition system is being installed at the Port of Zeebrugge in Belgium. This will be the first port in Europe to take up the technology after its successful deployment in the US.
The optical character recognition system has been developed by Hi-Tech Solutions to read and record the container code numbers when a train enters or exits the port.
Zeebrugge handled 2 million teu in 2007.
