Isoloader lands scanning gig
The US Department of Energys Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has awarded a $23m contract to Detector Networks International (DNI) to design and manufacture six straddle carriers with radiation detection capabilities.
Manufacturer Isoloader will supply the straddle carriers for the order.
The modified straddle carriers will detect radiation and, when found, identify if it’s a type that could be used in making weapons of mass destruction.
DNI is to deliver the first modified unit for testing in about nine months. If field tests are successful, the company has been contracted to build and deliver five more systems.
