Jade outshines competition for lucrative Gdansk contract

Jade Master Terminal, the company’s fully integrated terminal operating system,aims to “introduce greater certainty to planning and provide better management of revenue streams” for the terminal.

Since 1994, the product has been used in a variety of port operations in JSC’s home country of New Zealand.

Today, the system is used to assist operations at multiterminal, multi-discipline port and cargo depot operations, handling containers, general and bulk cargoes, logs and motor vehicles.

Backed by Australia’s Macquarie Bank through the Macquarie Global Infrastructure Fund II, DCT Gdansk has been constructing the new, independent deep-sea container port since 2005.

When completed, the terminal will be the largest of its kind in the Baltic and also the most easterly ice free port in the Baltic.

The newly constructed terminal will be able to handle a maximum capacity of 500,000 teu per annum with a ro-ro berth capacity of 160,000 teu. Phase two of the project will double the terminal capacity to over 1m teu per year with further construction possible.

Work on phase one of the terminal started in October 2005 with the 36 hectare container terminal being constructed from a green field site that was a beach situated on the eastern side of Gda´nsk harbour.
