Liebherr powers ahead in MHC sector
Equipment manufacturer Liebherr has smashedits own records, handing 88 mobile harbour cranes (MHC) in 2007.
Representing a 26% increase over 2006, the company claims this is its “best performance since the launch of the mobile harbour crane to the market in 1974”.
It also claims the market leadership of the MHC market in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East & India.
Sales in Europe, Liebherr’s main market, reached 44 units, with Spain singled out as the most important market with 14 cranes (16%), followed by Turkey with nine cranes (10%) and the UK, Italy and France with three cranes each.
Latin America took 15 MHC in 2007, while the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent took delivery of 12 mobile harbour cranes. In Africa, 11 MHC were sold and four headed to the Far East and Pacific Region.
