Liebherrs LRS 645 reaches east

Liebherr contends: “Being able to stack a 45 t container at 6 stacks high the two LRS 645 will enable Saigon New Port to operate highly efficient container stacking systems. Being able to pick containers from 2nd and 3rd row without removing containers in front rows reduces stacking time decisively; a feature that is made possible through the unique curveshaped telescopic boom.”

A strong argument for the decision in favour of the Liebherr LRS 645 was also the possibility to make use of the reachstackers for barge handling, enabled again by the curve-shaped boom. As the port operates its own fleet of container barges, this feature enhances flexibility in container shifting operations.

Important add-on features to the two machines are an exact load indication and an outreach indication on the monitor inside the driver’s cabin. Together these inputs enable the software to automatically move the container on a fully horizontal and/or vertical load path if selected by the operator.

Through receiving specific information on the container’s position security against tipping is increased.

Since its introduction in 2004, Liebherr has won orders for more than 20 units within Europe.
