Low maintenance plastic for Fleetwood port
Two 2.4m plastic buoys ordered by Associated British Ports from British manufacturer XJF Plastics are to be followed by another order after proving their effectiveness at Fleetwood, UK, in guiding the freight and passenger routes between the North of England and Larne in Northern Ireland.
The advantages of these plastic models are that they are lighter and lower maintenance than their steel counterparts.
The next two 1 metre buoys will mark out the Fleetwood slipway and a repeat order of two further 2.4m buoys is likely to follow.
