Norcontrol IT launches port management software
Norcontrol IT has released an ‘ off-the-shelf’ version of its Port Management Information System (PMIS).The company says the PMIS Standard Edition is a cost-effective, scaleable solution designed to provide small to medium sized ports with advanced marine management functionality to enable the safe and efficient management and reporting of vessel and cargo movements.
The company says port marine departments are experiencing an ever-growing requirement to provide statistical data to either internal or external organisations. PMIS Standard Edition has been designed to meet this requirement. It follows a recent proof-ofconcept software trial conducted at several UK ports which showed that the PMIS could be dispatched as a boxed CD, installed by the port’s staff and commissioned with minimal support from Norcontrol IT.
New functionality as a direct result of the trial includes Risk Management, Port Waste Management, interfaces to external systems (accounts, small boat register etc), switchable night screen and an improved service module. The PMIS Standard Edition includes:
– Voyage booking – Planning and tracking vessel movements – Tracking cargoes and associated cargo operations – Planning and tracking pilotage and tug services – Comprehensive history search – Vessel data management – User account management – Static data management (cargoes, pilots, contacts, berths etc) – Standard generation reports – Movement Overview filtering tool to optimize the relevance of data to any individual user
