Port tyres can take a load off
A special range of hardwearing tyres developed by Michelin has been extended into sizes suitable for port equipment.
Particularly suitable for short-distance movements in ports and freight terminals, the manufacturer claims that the tyres give almost twice the lifetime of a conventional 11R22.5 truck tyre in these environments.
The new design also greatly reduces rolling resistance and its load capacity at 40 km/h with a pressure of 10 bars, is 6,900 kg, compared with a normal truck tyre capacity of 4,300 kg at the same speed.
