SAIC launches compact inspection system
SAICs new VACIS P7500 Inspection System is a described as a compact,highpenetration, high-energy inspection portal that combines small footprint with high throughput. The system is suited for highvolume ports and transportation facilities with space limitations, said the company.
It comprises a low dose compact 7.5MeV accelerator working in conjunction with a high efficiency detector array to produce high resolution, high contrast images of the target.
“The low radiation dose means less shielding requirements than conventional x-ray units and a small radiation restricted area, said SAIC. “Good image quality is achieved at individual scan speeds of up to 5 mph and throughput rates of 150 units per hour.” The system can be installed in a lane width of 8.2 metres and occupies a length of 9.1 metres.
“SAIC’s patented drive-through technology lets truckers stay with their vehicles during scanning operations, driving them under their own power through the scanning area.
“As a result, throughput and operational simplicity are greatly enhanced. The VACIS P7500 system can scan 150 containers per hour in freeflow operation.”
SAIC’s OCR solutions can include a video inspection portal for damage recognition and identification, a gate/pedestal processing system to identify boxes or vehicles going in and out, and a driver identification system to enhance security, including systems such as biometrics, smart cards, magnetic card reader and cameras.
