Tractor pooling for better utilisation
A new Tractor Pooling feature which reduces the time tractors hang around a vessel while waiting for the one in front to finish, has been released by Tideworks as part of its Traffic Control container dispatch system.
The software automatically selects the most appropriate, available unit to perform a load or discharge move from a wider ‘pool’ working across a number of vessels, rather than keeping to a fixed number of tractors per ship.
Tideworks claims this method will increase utilisation by around 15% to 20%.
