TUGS FOR BP

The system allows the driver of a truck, trailer-train or straddle carrier to view the vehicle in relation to the stopping position offering a computer-augmented birds-eye view. Most existing systems use lights to show the driver the stopping point making it difficult to judge the exact position. The LoadVIEW system allows the driver to adjust his speed to suit as he is able to see the exact distance to the stopping point. With LoadVIEW he doesn’t have to look sideways to the crane, he can look forward with obvious safety benefits, says ITS.

Two Damen ASD3211 tugs, STANFORD and CASTLE POINT were officially welcomed by BP Shipping at the Tilbury Cruise Terminal recently. A third vessel, CORRINGHAM, is being outfitted by Damen Shipyards in Gorinchem. All three tugs will operate at BP’s Coryton Refinery on the Thames. These vessels are classed as both Fifi 1 and escort tugs.
