Cargotec-Sweframe court stories differ

The case began when Cargotec asserted that SweFrame’s Y40-E and Y45-E spreaders were based on stolen Bromma information. However, SweFrame responded by saying the principal technical steps had already been taken by others, and technical details could not be considered “new and unique” to Bromma.

The District Court of Västmanland has, Lars Karlsson of SweFrame told Port Strategy, now disallowed Cargotec’s requests for far-reaching interlocutory injunctions against SweFrames continued operations, which Cargotec initially sought to have issued without the hearing of SweFrame.

However, Anna Westersund of Cargotec told Port Strategy that Cargotec has got the preliminary injunctions from the court, adding that at this moment the company is not commenting on the future development of the process.

Mr Karlsson responded by saying, “whatever they try to say, the decision in the district court completely supports Sweframes opinion”. Mikael Pettersson of SweFrame also said, “The court has ruled in favour of SweFrame, although Cargotec may well appeal.” Mr Karlsson added he expected Cargotec to “keep this going as long as possible to create as much market uncertainty as they can”.
