Esbjerg combi tender launched

Denmark’s Port of Esbjerg wants a private operator to develop its new combi terminal and is calling on interested parties to submit an expression of interest.

The tender will include both the development and the operation of the terminal from the first quarter of 2015.

Esbjerg’s combi terminal consists of two tracks and covers a total area of 48,000m². It connects the port with the rail network providing the opportunity for smoother transhipment.

The terminal will primarily handle rail freight between Esbjerg, eastern Denmark and southern Sweden, but it will also provide a feeder service to the terminals in Padborg and Taulov.

Of the upmost importance is the capability of the new operator to be able to develop both intermodal and multimodal services. The operator will also be expected to secure the necessary amount of freight for the terminal to handle up to three trains of cargo per day.
