Exxtor to double handling capacity

The investment will support the purchase of two rubber-tyred gantry cranes – doubling handling capacity – resurfacing work at the terminal, and an upgrade of the terminal’s computerised yard-management system.Immingham already lays claim to being the UK’s largest East Coast unit-load port, with over 50 roll-on/roll-off and container sailings per week to ports in northern Europe, the Baltic countries and Scandinavia.

Commenting on the investment, Nick Palmer, ABP port director, Grimsby & Immingham, said: “This investment will complete the restructuring of the Exxtor Terminal and allow the facility to build on its established container trade. The terminal has seen many changes in recent years while maintaining an excellent reputation for service. This investment by ABP will give a platform for future growth in the unit-load market.”
