Gioia Tauro workers accept labour changes

Port workers at the Italian Mediterranean container shipments hub of Gioia Tauro have voted in favour of a proposed layoff agreement put forward by trade unions and Medecenter Container Terminal.

In all, 486 out of a total of 846 workers approved the deal, which involves rotating layoffs, improvements to productivity and measures to combat absenteeism.
