And these are not your normal run of the mill RTGs – Thomas Gylling from Konecranes, said to Port Strategy: “These RTGs are the first in the port to be equipped with Konecranes’ patented Active Load Control system (ALC).”

The ALC system pro-actively eliminates container sway in both gantry travelling and trolley travelling directions. It also enables spreader horizontal fine positioning and skew – hence cycle times of the RTG container handling can be significantly improved, according to the manufacturer.

Mr Gylling added: “This delivery includes features such as autosteering, container positioning (with TOS communication) and autostop. Konecranes is delivering more and more RTGs with autostop features, which is practically assisting the drivers to further increase stacking accuracy as well as performance in terms of boxes per hour.”

The contract is testament to the quality of the product because this will be the seventh RTG delivery to Luka Koper – the operator already has 10 Konecranes working in its fleet.
