Lines slam ‘inadequate’ Spanish box capacity

Cadena de Suministro reported that unnamed lines have complained of lengthening waiting times for berths, a sign, they state, that facilities are too congested. Vessels are incurring higher costs for port fees and services because of these extended stays in ports.

The delays have prompted shipping lines to request more flexibility from Spanish ports to accommodate changing schedules and the mobilisation of additional stevedores. They also want to see better infrastructure put in place to reflect the changing face of the industry, Cadena de Suministro reported.
