Lisbon to expand Liscont

Lisbon Port Authority has conceded that it may knock down existing buildings in Alcantara Dock in order to double the operating area of Liscont Container Terminal, which is currently handling in the region of 320,000 teu/year.

Interested parties will have to partially finance construction of the facility, although public investment of ?396.3m is also earmarked.

This will cost in the region of €8m and allow throughput to grow to at least 700,000 teu/year. The current Port Authority building would also require demolishing, with existing offices moved to Alges.
