Liscont legality questions continue

Portugals Public Ministry has stated that legislation put forward in 2008 allowing the Liscont concession at Alcântara Dock to be extended until 2042 was unconstitutional.

The existing law limited concessions to just 30 years, while this extension would result in one of 57 years and would have been undertaken without a public tender.

The Ministry argues that this was a disproportionate amount of time to be added to the concession and that the port authority of Lisbon acted against the public interest.

Legal action has been taken against both Liscont and the port authority.
